1. BluGlass to Supply Visible Lasers to Indian MoD


BluGlass Limited has secured a contract worth $230,000 from the Indian Ministry of Defence’s Solid State Physics Laboratory. The Australian semiconductor company is known for its expertise in gallium nitride (GaN) laser technology and serves sectors such as defence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.

2. Indian Coast Guard Commissions Fast Patrol Vessel ‘Atal’


Goa Shipyard Limited launched the Fast Patrol Vessel ‘Atal’ on 29 July 2025. It is the sixth in a series of eight vessels being built for the Indian Coast Guard. Designed in-house by GSL, these vessels are over 60% indigenous and tailored for missions such as coastal surveillance, anti-smuggling operations, and search-and-rescue tasks. The 52-meter-long FPVs are equipped for EEZ patrolling, fisheries protection, and island security.

3. Gunfight Between Security Forces and Naxals in Sukma


A fierce encounter broke out on 29 July 2025 in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district between security forces and Naxals. The joint operation, based on intelligence about Maoist presence, involved personnel from the STF, DRG, and CRPF. The firefight began in a forested hill area while the forces were conducting a combing operation.

4. Adani Defence’s 155mm Shells Pass Desert Trials


Adani Defence has successfully completed desert testing of its indigenously developed 155 mm artillery ammunition. These trials validate the shells’ performance under extreme heat and dusty terrain, making them suitable for deployment in western India and viable for export. This achievement further strengthens the role of India’s private defence sector.

5. Two Terrorists Neutralised Along LoC in J&K


On 29 July 2025, Indian Army troops engaged terrorists near the Line of Control in Poonch district after detecting suspicious movement. According to the Whiteknight Corps, the infiltrators opened fire when challenged, prompting a swift Army response. The operation, codenamed “Shivshakti,” resulted in the elimination of two terrorists.

6. Israeli Defence Systems Intercept Missile from Yemen


On the same day, Israel's air defence intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, with alerts sounding across parts of the country. The projectile was fired by the Houthi rebels, who have previously targeted Israel and regional shipping routes in response to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Most such attacks have been neutralised or failed to reach their targets.

7. Indonesia Finalises Deal for Turkish-Built Frigates


Indonesia has formalised an agreement to procure two Istif-class frigates from Turkiye at the IDEF 2025 defence expo in Istanbul. These multi-role warships are 113 meters long, support aerial assets including UAVs and helicopters, and carry advanced armaments such as anti-air, anti-ship, and torpedo systems. The acquisition is part of Indonesia’s effort to modernise its naval fleet.

8. Police Dept in US City Halts Use of Sig Sauer P320


The San Antonio Police Department has temporarily suspended the use of the Sig Sauer P320 pistol following a fatal accidental discharge that killed 21-year-old airman Brydan Lovan on 20 July 2025. An internal investigation is ongoing, and further decisions will be based on its findings.
