1. Cache of war-like stores recovered in J-K's Kupwara


Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district busted a hideout on August 31, recovering a cache of war-like stores.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, troops launched a search operation in Kotnala area of north Kashmir in the early hours of Sunday, an Army official said.
Recoveries included a Chinese pistol, four Pakistan-origin under-barrel grenade launchers (UBGLs), four Chinese hand grenades, a sniper rifle magazine, 26 sniper rounds, an AK-47 magazine, 144 AK-47 rounds, a bag, and two Chinese reading leaflets, the official added.

2. Two terrorists arrested in Poonch


Police have arrested two terrorists with weapons in Poonch district on August 31, officials said.
The accused—Tariq Sheikh of Azamabad and Riyaz Ahmad of Chamber village—were taken into custody during a raid. Two assault rifles and ammunition were recovered following their disclosure.
Police raided Sheikh’s house at Azamabad, arresting him along with Ahmad.

3. Kim Jong Un inspects missile facility


North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected a new missile production line and an automated missile manufacturing process, state media KCNA reported on September 1.
His visit on August 31 came ahead of a planned trip to Beijing to attend a military parade alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
North Korea remains under heavy international sanctions for its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes, developed in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions.

4. Norway to acquire British frigates


Norway plans to order a fleet of British-made frigates to strengthen its maritime defence, the government announced on August 31.
Germany, France, Britain, and the United States had submitted rival designs in what is expected to be NATO-member Norway’s largest military procurement to date.
“Frigates are essential to our defence because they are key to protecting our sovereignty,” Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere said at a press conference.

5. Infiltration bid foiled in J-K’s Poonch


Indian Army troops foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector of Poonch district on Monday, officials said.
Troops noticed a group of terrorists trying to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir near Dabbi village in Balakote area in the early hours.
Heavy gunfire was exchanged between the two sides, though no casualties were immediately reported.

6. India saw worst face of terrorism in Pahalgam: PM Modi at SCO Summit


Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin on September 1, invoked the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.
“India has borne the brunt of terrorism for four decades. Recently, we saw the worst face of terrorism in Pahalgam. I express gratitude to the friendly nations that stood with us in this hour of grief,” he said.
Calling the attack not just a strike on India’s soul but an open challenge to humanity, Modi urged countries to unite against terrorism. “We must reject double standards in dealing with terrorism,” he asserted.
