1. India Signs Deal with US for Javelin Anti-Tank Missiles

India has signed an agreement with the United States for the procurement of Javelin anti-tank guided missile systems for the Indian Army, strengthening its anti-armour capabilities. The deal marks another addition to the growing India US defence partnership, particularly in the area of battlefield weapon systems. 2. Pakistani Drone Detected Near LoC in Poonch

A drone suspected to have originated from Pakistan was detected over forward areas along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Friday evening, prompting security forces to launch a search operation.

The UAV was spotted over Behrooti village in the Balakote area of Mendhar sector around 8:05 pm and was tracked towards the Mangalnar-Dabrote axis before returning towards Pakistan. Security forces intensified surveillance along the LoC and launched a search operation to determine whether the drone had dropped any weapons, contraband or other suspicious material.

3. PM Modi Begins Uzbekistan Visit Ahead of SCO Summit in Kyrgyzstan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun his visit to Uzbekistan, which will be followed by his participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Kyrgyzstan. The visit will provide India an opportunity to engage with key Central Asian partners, while PM Modi is also expected to hold meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other leaders on the sidelines of the SCO Summit.

4. Pakistan, Kuwait Sign Defence Cooperation Agreement

Pakistan and Kuwait have signed the Protocol Agreement 2026 to expand military cooperation between the two countries, building on their existing Defence Cooperation Agreement of 2023. The pact covers areas including military training, capacity building, operational coordination and border management, with the two sides also seeking greater exchange of expertise and closer coordination between their armed forces.

The agreement was signed during Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah's visit to Islamabad and comes as Pakistan seeks to deepen its military partnerships across the Gulf.

India is stepping up high level diplomatic engagement with China and Russia ahead of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi next month.
