1. Kalyani  Strategic Systems Limited signs howitzer partnership with Humvee maker

Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) has signed a strategic partnership with AM General, the maker of the Humvee, at the Eurosatory defence exposition. AM General has also offered a proposal to participate in the U.S Army Mobile Tactical Cannon (MTC) program. The proposal to the U.S. Government includes the development and delivery of a 155mm MTC solution based on the mature, combat-relevant architecture of KSSL’s Mounted Artillery Gun platform, with delivery planned in 2027 upon its down-selection.  

2. ICG inducts first indigenous Air Cushion Vehicle

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) inducted its first Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV)  into service in Goa on June 18. The ACV is built by Chowgule and Company Private Limited. The MoD had signed a contract for the acquisition of six ACVs for ICG on October 24, 2024. The ICG currently operates eighteen Griffon Hoverwork 8000TD ACVs, which were made in collaboration with Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited

3. Brahmos Aerospace and Solar Industries flag off 100th Brahmos missile booster

BrahMos Aerospace Chief Dr Jaiteerth Joshi and Solar Industries India Ltd flagged off the 100th indigenous booster manufactured for the BrahMos Aerospace supersonic cruise missile. The initial thrust needed to accelerate the missile to supersonic speeds  before detaching.

Satyanarayan Nuwal, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Solar Industries, while speaking to ANI, said, “We acquired the TOT (Transfer of Technology) in 2018, and achieved full technology absorption within fourteen months. Since the BrahMos missile is a collaboration between Russia and BrahMos Aerospace Limited, their scientists visited us in 2022. Following their arrival and subsequent evaluation, they approved, and we received the final approval in September 2022. Essentially, we accomplished a hundred tasks within three years. Today, we informed them that more are required, so from August onwards, we have built up a capacity of twelve production units per year, with our production capacity expanding every month. Therefore, I believe that if we aim to produce at least 150 of them this year, we can easily achieve it…”

4.  SMPP and KNDS sign teaming agreement for Loitering Munitions

Indian private sector firm SMPP has entered into a teaming agreement with KNDS, through its subsidiary SMPP Ammunition, to manufacture state-of-the-art Loitering Munitions (LMs) in India. The agreement was signed on June 18 at the Eurosatory Exhibition in Paris. These Loitering Munitions include the VELOCE and RODEUR systems, along with the ISTAR family of drones, enabling a highly effective “search-and-destroy” capability.

5. Work is underway to develop smaller and hypersonic variants of Brahmos: Russian Ambassador

Denis Alipov, Russian Ambassador to India, while speaking at the think tank Vivekananda International Foundation on the occasion of 25 years of the maiden test launch of BrahMos missile, has said, “Today, work is underway to develop smaller and hypersonic variants, which will further enhance the Indian Armed Forces’ multi-domain strike capabilities. BrahMos stands as an emblematic example that powerfully reaffirms Russia’s status as a natural—and, I dare say, indispensable—partner of choice for India, the BrahMos joint venture became a model for future collaboration and a true trendsetter. It opened the path to a conceptual transformation in India’s defence policy—from a traditional buyer-seller framework to one based on technology sharing, co-development, and co-production. Nearly a decade and a half later, India institutionalised this approach under the banners of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.”
