1. ISRO launches Indian Navy’s advanced communication satellite GSAT-7R

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on November 2 successfully launched the Indian Navy’s advanced communication satellite GSAT-7R (CMS-03) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.

Weighing approximately 4,400 kg, GSAT-7R is India’s heaviest communication satellite to date. Designed and developed indigenously, it marks a major milestone in enhancing the Navy’s space-based communications and maritime domain awareness.

The satellite was launched aboard ISRO’s most powerful launch vehicle, LVM3-M5, at 5:26 p.m. IST, and successfully inserted into a geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO).


2. Indian Armed Forces conduct Exercise TRISHUL

The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force are conducting Exercise TRISHUL, a major Tri-Service operational validation in the Western sector.

The exercise focuses on joint operations and interoperability, demonstrating the synergy and integration of India’s armed forces across diverse terrains and mission spectrums.

The Ministry of Defence said the exercise embodies the spirit of Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation, reaffirming the forces’ commitment to building a tech-enabled, future-ready military capable of winning in a multi-domain environment.

3. Trump rules out Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine—for now

U.S. President Donald Trump said he is not currently considering a deal that would allow Ukraine to obtain long-range Tomahawk missiles for use against Russia, according to Reuters.

Trump said he remains reluctant to approve such a move, citing concerns over escalation. “No, not really,” he told reporters when asked about the deal, though he added he “could change [his] mind.”

4. Trump orders preparations for possible action in Nigeria

President Donald Trump said he has directed the Department of War to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria, accusing the government of failing to protect Christians from violence—an allegation Nigeria has repeatedly denied, reports CNN.

In a social media post, Trump condemned what he called the “mass slaughter” of Christians, announced an immediate halt to U.S. aid, and warned that the U.S. “may very well go in, guns blazing, to wipe out the Islamic terrorists” responsible for the attacks.

5. Russia launches nuclear-powered submarine Khabarovsk

Russia has launched the Khabarovsk, a nuclear-powered submarine designed to carry the Poseidon nuclear drone, from the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk.

Developed by the Rubin Design Bureau, Khabarovsk will serve as the primary carrier of the Poseidon underwater weapon system.

The launch, attended by President Vladimir Putin and senior defence officials, marks a significant step in strengthening Russia’s underwater deterrence and maritime defence.

6. U.S. nuclear weapons tests will not involve explosions: Energy Secretary

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright clarified that the nuclear weapons testing ordered by President Trump will not involve nuclear explosions.

“These are system tests, not nuclear detonations,” Wright said in an interview with Fox News, adding that they will assess all non-nuclear components to ensure readiness without triggering an actual blast.
