1. China and Pakistan enhance defence cooperation


China and Pakistan announced to deepen security and defence cooperation. Both sides agreed to work to crack down on terrorism. A joint action plan was agreed upon by the two countries in a report by the Chinese state agency Xinhua

The plan came as Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited China and held meetings with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping, in Beijing. 

The Pakistan military has acquired 80% of its defence equipment from China, such as the JF-17 fighter, J-10CE, ZDK-03 AWACS, etc

2. India and Singapore enhance defence cooperation


India and Singapore on Thursday unveiled a roadmap to expand their comprehensive strategic partnership and decided to deepen defence technology cooperation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong.

In a Joint Statement, both nations have decided to continue the cooperation in maritime security and submarine rescue, as well as working closely within regional security architectures.

The Joint Statement said, India and Singapore will strengthen cooperation in Maritime Domain Awareness between Information Fusion Centres, including through International Liaison Officers. Singapore has acknowledged India’s interest in the Malacca Straits Patrol with appreciation. 

3. AVNL-OFMK to overhaul BMP-IIs of the Indian Army


Ordnance Factory Medak (OFMK), a unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), has secured the order from the MGS for the Overhaul (OH)-II of 100 Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV) BMP-II platforms, worth ₹1119 Crores a post by AVNL on X.

The Indian Army's BMP-2, named "Sarath" ("Chariot of Victory"), is a crucial amphibious Infantry Combat Vehicle (ICV) that has been licensed and produced domestically since the late 1980s. 

Manufactured by Ordnance Factory Medak, it forms the backbone of India's mechanised infantry. The Army operates an estimated 2,400 to 2,500 BMP-2 "Sarath" Infantry Combat Vehicles. 

4. Baykar’s Bayraktar TB-3 enters service in the Turkish Army


The Ministry of Defence of Turkey confirmed the Bayraktar TB3 armed naval UAV has been into its  Land Forces Command. The TB3 is built as the naval version of TB2 with folding wings to enable carrier-based operations. The Baykar Bayraktar TB3 is classified as a medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV).

Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Adviser of the ministry,  announced during the weekly briefing.

The first deliveries of the TB3 had been widely expected to go to the Navy for deployment aboard the TCG Anadolu. Instead, the Land Forces became the first service to field the advanced platform. 

5. Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, VEM Technology to manufacture Torpedos


German submarine maker Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hyderabad-based VEM Technologies, a leading Indian defence company specialising in weapon systems, fuselage development, and airborne platforms. The agreement sets the stage for the development, production, integration, testing, and modernisation of heavyweight torpedoes, TKMS announced on Wednesday.

Backed by TKMS and its subsidiary ATLAS ELEKTRONIK, VEM Technologies will be responsible for the integration and testing of the torpedoes within India. The collaboration aims to strengthen indigenous capabilities in Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) systems for surface vessels and other strategic naval applications.

The two companies are also considering additional opportunities to strengthen their partnership. Among these is the potential participation in the P75(I) submarine program, which would mark a significant step in expanding their role within India’s defence sector. By engaging in such a critical initiative, both firms aim to contribute to the country’s naval capabilities while showcasing their combined expertise.

6. Japan receives its first Patria AMV vehicle


Japan has received its first Patria AMV 8x8 armoured vehicle. The vehicle is produced by Japan Steel Works at the Muroran plant in collaboration with Finnish company Patria.

In a post by JGSDF on X, it said, Ground Staff Officer Arai attended the shipment ceremony for the first mass-produced unit of the wheeled armoured vehicle (personnel transport type) AMV at the Muroran Plant of The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. on September 2.

This first mass-produced unit will begin deployment to units starting this fiscal year.
