1. Indian Army to place orders for 800 km range BrahMos missile

The Indian Army is looking to place orders for the 800 km range BrahMos missile, according to a report by ANI. The Army currently operates 450 km range cruise missiles. The Defence Ministry is expected to give a go-ahead to the plan at a high-level meeting scheduled in the coming days.

2. BDL successfully tests FOPM of Akash missile system

BDL (Bharat Dynamics Limited) has completed the First-off Production Model (FOPM) of the Advanced Akash Weapon System with upgraded sub-systems. The system demonstrated high precision against diverse aerial threats, and deliveries are expected to commence shortly.

3. India to receive remaining S-400 missile systems this year

India is set to receive the remaining two units of the S-400 air defence system from Russia this year, with one expected as early as next month and the final delivery scheduled for November, according to a report by The Hindu. India had signed a $5.43 billion deal with Russia in 2018 for five squadrons of the system. Three units have already been inducted into service, with the remaining two expected within the stipulated timeframe.

4. Colonel Prasad Bansod awarded by Eastern Command for ASMI Machine Pistol

Lieutenant General R.C. Tiwari, Army Commander, Eastern Command, awarded the GOC-in-C Commendation Card to Colonel Prasad Bansod for his contribution to indigenous defence innovation. He played a key role in designing the indigenously developed ‘Asmi’ Machine Pistol, reflecting ingenuity and commitment to self-reliance under Atmanirbhar Bharat.

5. Hyundai Rotem rolls out K2ME MBT

Hyundai Rotem rolled out the K2ME Main Battle Tank on 26 March at its Changwon plant. The tank is designed for Middle Eastern conditions and features enhanced air conditioning, an improved power pack cooling system, and reinforced protection to ensure optimal performance in in extreme heat and sandy terrain.
