1. Indian Army foils BAT attack by Pakistani forces

Indian army foiled BAT action by the terrorists along the LoC in Uri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
BAT is the Border Action Team of the Pakistan army  comprising  regular army soldiers and terrorists.
Army retaliated to this action during which one soldier havaldar Ankit was killed in action. Due to bad weather the intruders were able to escape back across the LoC.

2. Philippines Ambassador to UK praises Indian Navy 

The Philippines Ambassador to the UK praised the Indian Navy as being the only one which goes wherever it wants, unlike the western navies.

In an August 13 post by Teodoro Locsin Jr.wrote “The Indian Navy is the only one with the b***s to go where it pleases; Western navies sing a cappella like castrati.”

India has sold Brahmos anti-ship missiles to the Philippines worth 375$ million in 2022.

On August 3- August 4 2025 the Indian Navy conducted exercises with the Philippine Navy in the South China Sea.

3. Operation Sindoor’s success showcased at outreach programme by Army

Operation Sindoor’s success was showcased by the Army at an outreach programme in Arunachal Pradesh’s upper Siang district on Tuesday. 

The event was organised by the Spear Corps under 'Seemaon ke Rakshak, Gaon ke Saathi' initiative, the two-day programme was a part of the Army's ongoing efforts to connect remote border areas with the national mainstream. 

The programme sought to strengthen civil-military cooperation while instilling the ideals of patriotism in the border community.The event, which started on Monday, featured a series of community-focused activities for students, youth, women, veterans, and entrepreneurs,Modern weapons and equipment were displayed as part of the programme. Young participants were encouraged to consider careers in the armed forces.Information was provided on local economic opportunities in crops, spices, and bamboo-based industries.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of veterans and community leaders for their contributions to regional development,

4. Indian Navy completes Rescue Seat certification of South African submarine

The Indian Navy on Tuesday conducted a rescue seat certification of South African submarine SAS Manthatisi. The SAS Manthatisi is a type 209 class submarine, a class operated by the Indian Navy as the Shishumar class.

This is the first-ever for a friendly foreign navy, enhancing bilateral cooperation and submarine safety. 

The rescue seat certification helps the Indian Navy to provide rescue assistance to South African Navy submarine crews under distress by deploying the Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle.

The Navy spokesperson wrote in an X post, "Strengthening bilateral ties, the #IndianNavy successfully undertook the Rescue Seat Certification of the #SouthAfricanNavy Submarine SAS Manthatisi, a first for any Friendly Foreign Navy."

This certification will now enable implementation of the Submarine Rescue and Cooperation Implementation Agreement signed last year between both the Navies", as per the statement.

5. Australian Army Chief on Three-day India visit

Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, Chief of the Australian Army, arrived in New Delhi on an official visit to India from 11 to 14 August 2025. The visit aims to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and enhance strategic engagement between the two nations.

The Chief of Australian Army was briefed on India’s security perspective, Operation Sindoor, and recent advancements in technology absorption within the Indian Army. He also met senior leadership of the Indian Armed Forces, including General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff; Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff; Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of Air Staff; and Shri Rajesh Kumar, Defence Secretary. On the sidelines of the visit, the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Australian Army met the Army Subedar Major of the Indian Army at South Block, fostering camaraderie and collaboration between all ranks.

This high-level visit reaffirms the strong and growing India–Australia defence partnership and underscores the shared commitment of both nations towards a stable, secure, and rules-based Indo-Pacific region.

6. India issues notification for a missile test in Bay of Bengal

India today issued a notification for conducting a long range missile test in the region of Bay of Bengal.

The missile test is scheduled between August 20 and 21.

The danger zone of the test is 2,530 km, indicating it is a long range cruise missile or a ballistic missile..
