1. Indian Army signs contract for Thales LMM

The Indian Army awarded a contract of Rs 4,155 crores to Thales UK for the procurement of the LMM (Light Weight Modular) missile. The contract was signed on October 15. The missile weighs 13 kg and has an operational range greater than 6 km. The configuration is twin missile launcher tubes mounted on a tripod stand.
India had agreed to procure these missiles on October 9 during the visit of British Prime Minister Kier Starmer. This is the second missile to be ordered from Britain after the Starstreak missile, jointly manufactured by Thales and Bharat Dynamics Limited.
The LMM benefits from a precision laser beam riding guidance system, allowing low collateral damage, and is thus optimised for operations in air, land, and naval environments. Equipped with a triple-effect warhead and proximity fuse, LMM responds to various threats, including light armored, wheeled, and tracked vehicles or aerial platforms.
2. MoD procures night sights for SIG-716 assault rifles

The Ministry of Defence signed a contract agreement worth ₹659.47 crore for the procurement of Night Sight (Image Intensifier) for 7.62 x 51mm Assault Rifle, along with accessories for the Indian Army with the consortium of MKU Ltd (Lead Member) and Medbit Technologies on Oct 15, 2025. The Night Sight will enable soldiers to fully exploit the longer effective range of the SIG 716 Assault Rifle.
These sights are capable of engaging targets up to an effective range of 500 metres, even under starlit conditions, and provide a significant improvement over the existing Passive Night Sights (PNS). This procurement, classified as a Buy (Indian-IDDM) case with more than 51% Indigenous Content, is a major step towards Aatmanirbharta in Defence Manufacturing. The initiative will also benefit the MSMEs involved in the manufacturing of components and the supply of raw material.
3. India and Indonesia to conduct exercise Samudra Shakti

The Indian Navy is hosting the fifth edition of the bilateral maritime exercise Samudra Shakti with the Indonesian Navy from October 14 to 17 in Visakhapatnam..
The Indo-Indonesian joint naval exercise, aimed at enhancing interoperability and strengthening maritime cooperation between the two countries, features a series of professional and operational engagements, both ashore and at sea.
INS Kavaratti, an anti-submarine warfare corvette of the Eastern Fleet, and Indonesian Navy ship KRI John Lie, a corvette equipped with an integral helicopter, are participating in the exercise. The Indonesian warship was accorded a warm welcome by the Indian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command upon its arrival at Visakhapatnam.
4. Raksha Mantri holds a meeting with Vice President and Defence Minister of Brazil

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh held a meeting with the Vice President of Brazil, Mr. Geraldo Alckmin, in New Delhi on October 15, 2025. The Defence Minister of Brazil, Mr José Múcio Monteiro Filho, was also present during the meeting.
The leaders reviewed the progress of ongoing defence-related initiatives and identified priority areas for joint work, including exploring opportunities for co-development & co-production of defence equipment.
India and Brazil share a strategic partnership. The leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to advance defence cooperation, focusing on military-to-military exchanges, including joint exercises and training visits
5. INS Sahyadri visits South Korea

Indian Navy’s indigenous guided missile stealth frigate INS Sahyadri made a port call at Busan Naval harbour, South Korea, on October 13, as part of its ongoing deployment to the South China Sea and Indo-Pacific. The RoK Navy extended a warm welcome to the ship, as said in a post on X by the Indian Navy
The Eastern Fleet ship will participate in the maiden Indian Navy - Republic of Korea Navy Bilateral Exercise, marking a significant step towards enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations.
6. Germany orders 20 Eurofighter Typhoons

Luftwaffe is acquiring 20 Eurofighter Typhoons. The leaders of Eurofighter and NETMA (the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency) on October 15 signed the contract for 20 German Air Force Eurofighters in Manching, the final assembly base of Airbus in southern Germany.
The jets will be delivered between 2031 and 2034. Germany operates 138 Eurofighter Typhoons, and with this contract, it will operate 158 Eurofighter Typhoons by 2034.. Airbus will equip the 20 Eurofighter Typhoons with the latest sensors, including the electronic E-Scan radar.
