1. India successfully tests the Agni Prime Missile

The Agni Prime Missile was successfully test-fired on 24 September 2025.
The Agni Prime was launched from a rail-based mobile launcher for the first time. “This launcher can seamlessly move across the rail network without any preconditions and offers cross-country mobility,” said Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh in a post on X.
It is designed to deliver a quick reaction time, operate with reduced visibility, and is self-sustained with independent launch features.
The launch, carried out by the DRDO in collaboration with the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), was executed under a full operational scenario and is being hailed as a textbook success, meeting all mission objectives.
The Agni-Prime, designed to strike targets up to 2,000 kilometres away, is a highly advanced missile system equipped with state-of-the-art features.
2. Air Force use would've slowed the Chinese offensive in the 1962 war: CDS Chauhan

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan has said the use of the Air Force would have slowed the Chinese offensive considerably during the 1962 Sino-Indian war, and it may have been termed as escalatory then, but that is not the case now, as seen in Operation Sindoor.
Speaking about the war with China 63 years ago, he noted the forward policy should not have been applied uniformly to Ladakh and NEFA (North-East Frontier Agency) or present-day Arunachal Pradesh, arguing the two regions had different histories of dispute and entirely different terrain, and following identical policies was flawed.
Over the years, the security situation has changed, and the face of warfare itself has been transformed, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) maintained.
3. Seventy-one Naxalites surrender in Dantewada

Seventy-one Naxalites have surrendered in Dantewada. Thirty of them had a bounty of 64 lakh
Hailing the development, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said, the double-engine government (BJP rule at the Centre and state) is committed to eliminating Naxalism by March 31, 2026, and providing dignified rehabilitation and a better life to surrendered comrades.
The Naxalites, including 21 women, turned themselves in before senior police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials, citing disappointment with the hollow Maoist ideology and atrocities committed by them on local people, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai said.
4. CDS tenure extended by the government

Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan's tenure has been extended up to May next year, the government said on September 25.
Gen Chauhan's current stint as the top military officer is scheduled to end on September 30.
The defence ministry said the government has approved the extension of service of Gen Chauhan as Chief of Defence Staff and Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, up to May 30 next year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
5. One person arrested in J&K over providing info to Pahalgam terrorist

Police arrested a person on September 24 from South Kashmir who had allegedly provided logistical support to terrorists responsible for the April 22 Pahalgham terror attack.
Based on an intelligence lead, Srinagar police arrested an Over Ground Worker from South Kashmir's Kulgam district. He was identified as Mohd Yousuf Katari (26), an official said.
The officials said that he had a role in providing logistical support to the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack, who were later killed during Operation Mahadev. In the July 29 encounter, the Army's elite para commandos had gunned down the three terrorists on the outskirts of Srinagar.
6. Twenty people wounded in a Yemeni drone strike

Drone fired from the Yemeni side struck the southern Israeli city of Eilat. At least twenty people were wounded, two of them seriously.
It wasn't immediately clear if they were hurt by the drone or an interceptor.
Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have regularly fired drones and missiles at Israel in what they say is solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. The vast majority have been intercepted or fallen in open areas without wounding anyone.
