1. Rajnath Singh inaugurates WHAP facility in Morocco

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) Wheeled Armored Personnel carrier ( WHAP) to manufacture the 8x8 armored vehicles for Morocco's miitary.

The WHAP vehicle is developed by DRDO and Tata. Small numbers of the vehicle were inducted by the Indian Army after the Galwan clash.

Morocco will be the first country to operate the WHAP 8x8, and it is India's first export success in armoured vehicles.

2. India and Morocco sign defence cooperation

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Morocco’s Defence Minister Abdeltif Loudiyi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation in Rabat on September 22.

The MoU provides for a robust institutional framework for the growing partnership and paves the way for collaboration in the defence industry, joint exercises, military training and capacity building. 

Both leaders decided to intensify defence industry collaboration and agreed on a comprehensive roadmap covering counter-terrorism, maritime security, cyber defence, peacekeeping operations, military medicine, and expert exchanges. The discussions between the two Ministers reflected the shared resolve to further strengthen the longstanding friendship between India and Morocco.

3. Indian Armed Forces to conduct drone exercise

The armed forces will test the capabilities of some of its drones and counter-drone systems during an exercise by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) in the first week of October, a senior official said on Tuesday.

The exercise will be held somewhere in Madhya Pradesh from October 6-10.

In his address at a conference on air defence systems, Air Marshal Rakesh Sinha, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (OPS) at HQ IDS, also spoke of the lessons drawn from Operation Sindoor and the need to "stay ahead" of the adversary in military thinking and planning.

4. NATO warns Russia to stop airspace violations


NATO warned Russia to stop an "escalatory" pattern of airspace violations along its eastern flank, after the alliance held urgent talks about a jet incursion over Estonia last week.

"Russia bears full responsibility for these actions, which are escalatory, risk miscalculation, and endanger lives. They must stop," NATO's 32 member states said in a statement.

"Russia should be in no doubt: NATO and allies will employ, in accordance with international law, all necessary military and non-military tools to defend ourselves and deter all threats from all directions."
