1. DAC to clear major procurements today

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) will meet today under the chairmanship of Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh. The meeting will, for the first time, be attended by the newly appointed Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth, and the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan's successor, General N. S. Raja Subramani. Major procurement proposals on the agenda include HAMMER laser-guided bombs for the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy, K-9 Vajra self-propelled guns, the DRDO-developed MPATGM (Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile), and 250 Verba MANPADS (Man-Portable Air Defence Systems).

2. Indian Navy conducts anti-piracy operation

MV Golden Arsenal, a St. Vincent and the Grenadines-flagged bulk carrier en route from Aden, Yemen, with 21 crew members, including one Indian national, reported an attempted pirate attack approximately 300 nautical miles east-northeast of Djibouti on the afternoon of July 1. Responding swiftly, the Indian Navy deployed INS Trikand, a stealth frigate operating in the Gulf of Aden, which arrived in the vicinity of the vessel early on July 2.

3. Indian Navy participates in RIMPAC 2026

The Indian Navy's Boeing P-8I Long-Range Maritime Reconnaissance and Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft has arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii, to participate in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise 2026. One of the world's largest multinational maritime exercises, RIMPAC 2026 is being conducted from July 1 to July 31.

4. INS Udaygiri, INS Shakti and INS Kavaratti arrive in Singapore

Indian Naval Ships INS Udaygiri, INS Shakti and INS Kavaratti, deployed with the Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet, arrived in Singapore on July 1 as part of the ongoing operational deployment to the region. The visit will provide opportunities to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and maritime partnership between India and Singapore.

5. INS Sudarshini to participate in SAIL 4th 250 New York and Boston

INS Sudarshini has set course for New York to participate in the SAIL 4th 250 New York and SAIL Boston events, reaffirming India's enduring commitment to maritime friendship, cooperation, goodwill and mutual trust among nations. SAIL 4th 250 is a major maritime festival being held in New York Harbour to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
