1. Indian Coast Guard inducts fifth FPV boat "Akshay"

The Indian Coast Guard inducted its fifth Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) ‘Akshay’ on May 28 at Goa Shipyard Ltd. Designed and built entirely in India, the vessel will strengthen coastal surveillance and offshore security along the western seaboard. Equipped with advanced systems for rapid response, law enforcement, search and rescue, and EEZ protection, ‘Akshay’ reflects the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India. The induction highlights the ICG’s continued efforts to modernise and expand its fleet for enhanced maritime preparedness and national security.

2. Defence Secretary meets INDOPACOM Commander in Singapore

Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh interacted with INDOPACOM Commander Admiral Samuel J Paparo on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026 in Singapore. Discussions focused on strengthening military-to-military cooperation, enhancing collaboration in the Indo-Pacific, and addressing emerging security challenges, reaffirming the shared commitment towards deepening India-US strategic ties.

3. India and Singapore co-chair the Defence Policy Dialogue. 

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh co-chaired the 16th Defence Policy Dialogue with Singapore Permanent Secretary (Defence) Mr Joseph Leong on May 28. The dialogue reaffirmed the robust bilateral defence partnership between the two nations. Wide-ranging discussions were held on key areas of defence cooperation, security collaboration, and avenues to further strengthen the strategic relationship between India and Singapore.

4. Defence Secretary visits the DOTC centre of the Singapore Armed Forces

Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh visited the Digital Operations Technology Centre (DOTC) of the Digital and Intelligence Service of the Singapore Armed Forces on May 28. The visit provided valuable insights into Singapore’s advanced digital and technological capabilities, while exploring avenues for collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces in niche and emerging domains of warfare.

5.  FN Browning Group to acquire Accuracy International

FN Browning Group and Accuracy International have entered into a strategic acquisition agreement under which the Group will acquire the global specialist in precision bolt-action rifle systems. This strategic combination brings together two highly complementary players and further strengthens FN Browning Group’s leading position across both its Defence & Security and Hunting & Sports Shooting divisions, while also making a significant contribution to the United Kingdom’s sovereign industrial capabilities in small arms.

6. Australian Air Force receives 14th Boeing P-8 MPA

The Royal Australian Air Force has received its 14th Boeing P-8 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA). The completion of the 14-aircraft fleet enables higher availability, increased resilience, and the ability to sustain operations in support of Australia’s security and regional stability. Australia ordered its 14 Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft in two main tranches: the initial order for eight was placed in 2014 with options for four more, while the final two aircraft that completed the 14-plane fleet were officially approved in December 2020.
