The Crucial Role of Education to harness India's Semiconductor Potential

India imports more than 95% of its semiconductor demand from countries like China, Taiwan, the USA, Japan, and South Korea. This can enable India to create its own intellectual property (IP) and patents in the semiconductor field. Third, they can enhance collaboration and cooperation among various stakeholders in the semiconductor ecosystem by creating a common platform for knowledge sharing and problem solving. This can improve the efficiency and quality of semiconductor products and services.

Therefore, it is imperative that India invests in developing and offering semiconductor courses across its educational institutions. This will not only help India meet its current and future demand for semiconductor professionals but also enable India to become a global leader in the semiconductor industry. Proactive steps need to be taken in order to promote and support semiconductor courses in India. This includes:

The government's vision, manifested through schemes like PLI, MSIPS, and NPE 2019, lays the foundation for a thriving semiconductor ecosystem. The acute shortage of skilled professionals in this field necessitates the integration of specialized semiconductor courses into the fabric of our education system.
