IAF awards Operation Sindoor Braves

26 officers and airmen of the Indian Air Force awarded the Vayu Sena Medal (Gallantry), including fighter pilots who took part in missions to hit targets inside Pakistan and officers and men operating the S-400 and other air defence systems which foiled all attacks planned by Pakistan on Indian soil.

This is the first time the Indian Air Force has got more awards than the Army. Two awardees are the sons of former IAF chiefs.

Nine officers have been honoured with the prestigious Vir Chakra, India’s third highest wartime gallantry medal, for their exceptional bravery and outstanding performance during Operation Sindoor.
